I put the word parenting in quotes because this person clearly has no idea what the word means, how to apply it, how to take responsibility for themselves or their child, how to provide their child with clear direction and boundaries and, in short, should not be allowed within 100 yards of a child.

Why is it so difficult for people to take responsibilty for anything these days ?

The slightest sign of minor difficulty and people are complaining to various 'watchdogs', bleating on that 'the government should bail us out' and basically doing nothing about the situation apart from blaming anyone and everything else.

And people / corporations pander to this !

Did no-one have the spine to stand up to this idiot and say 'no' ?

Why can no-one say 'no' to anyone anymore ? (and that includes parents to their children)

If the worst of your problems is that you can't bring yourself to insist that your child should put a seatbelt on 'because a cartoon pig doesn't' then you have no problems at all and you are a despicable waste of molecules in the continuum of human existence.

energy saving shite bulbs

I am sick to the back teeth of being told how to live, what I can and can't do, what is 'good' for me etc etc etc.

Soon it will be 'illegal' to use proper light bulbs in the UK.

Instead, we now have to suffer god-awful ugly energy saving bulbs that give out poor light - see here for a quick & dirty comparison;

Why is free will and choice being narrowed down ever further, in this case to support bad science and egotism of the worst kind - 'we are HUMAN, we CAN save the planet !' - jeezus, just go away & stay out of my face. Accept that you'll be dead in 100 years and move on. At some point the sun will explode anyway taking the Earth with it so your petty small minded efforts are all in vain, even if they do make you temporarily feel better.

So now the rosy glow of fairgrounds and illuminations are going to disintegrate into a homogenous mush of fuzzy inconsistency.

Once again, The Beatles back catalogue is gracing the atmosphere & Macca can afford another divorce. No complaints there.

However.

What is it with Rock Band, Guitar Hero and their ilk ?

I find them incredibly tedious - it is, after all, just pressing buttons in time to music. And yes, I've tried them more than once (under duress, admittedly) and they're still boring.

Whoever thought that they could make money by essentially getting people to pay to tap their feet (or hand, or nose, or whatever) in time must chuckle to themselves about once every 4 seconds.

Too much TO-DO

Language alters the way we feel, think and react to things.

It occurred to me in the shower (that wondrous place to have all thoughts) that we put too much pressure on ourselves by having all manner of to-do lists. We look at these endless lists, oh my god, there's so much TO-DO !

The solution ?

Rename them.

Refer to them as Will Happen lists, or if you're a Star Trek fan of a particular vintage, Make It So lists.

I wonder sometimes if someone is tuning into my brainwaves just searching for something that they know will make me see red instantly.

It *has* to be a test to see if I can let things go and chill more, but honestly, where do I start ?!

For me, the obvious 'solution' to this non-existent 'problem' is that people who feel uncomfortable using toilets labelled, 'ladies' and 'gents' should just use the disabled facilities, which cater for both sexes. But of course, that's bound to upset someone. If the worse that can happen to you in life is that you feel offended by something like this then you're lucky, you have no real problems.

See, that was fairly restrained ;o)

What ?

OK, I have romantic delusions of being a writer but have zero experience (do high school essays count ? thought not) so I decided that the best thing to do would just be to pound keyboard and get some words out there, see what happens, see what develops. The only way to do something is to get off your arse & do it. I think about things for too long, far far too long, and often lose all impetus behind what I wanted to achieve in the first place. So, less of the thinking about doing & more of the doing.

Be aware that much of this blog will be random, rambling and occasionally ranting. *Lots* of things annoy me. I know, I should chill more, it's a work in progress :o)
